Car history: |
Exterior: This Corvette basically looks in person just as it does in the photos. The paint has a high gloss and smooth finish overall. However, the paint job has some apparent age and blemishes, which is evident in the photos. The chrome and other brightwork on the car shows well overall for the condition of the car. There is some light pitting and corrosion in the expected areas around the underside of the bumpers and inside corners where the factory plating is thin, which is visible in the photos. The front bumper is in slightly better condition than the rears. The doors open and close well. The convertible top is in obviously need of repair. It will latch in the front or back, but it appears it has shrunken a bit and is hard to completely latch down, especially in this cold weather. There are no major spots or blemishes in the paint that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. I have done my best to accurately and objectively photograph the car and show all of the flaws, but some are too small or cannot be picked up by the camera. One should really view the car in person to get the best and most accurate idea of what the car really looks like. The left hood latch needs some adjustment, but the hood closes fine. The car does have some rust issues and rust around the windshield. The tires appear to have about 70 tread left. The wheels are in good condition with a nice finish. Interior: The red interior is in decent condition. The seats show very little wear and have no slits, tears, or split seams. They are not worn in the typical areas such as where the driver gets in and out. The carpet shows some age, but has no rips, holes or stains. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The Corvette has an aftermarket radio, which works well. The center console is cracked, which is visible in the photos. The dash is in great condition with no cracks, fading, or sun damage. This car has not been smoked in; there are no burn marks or aroma whatsoever. Mechanical: This car is in decent mechanical condition. The car is totally usable in its current state and there are no major issues I am aware of that immediately affect the drivability of the car. The car starts right away every time, runs well, and idles well. The car does not pop out of gear and the clutch feels good. The shifter itself could be adjusted and tightened up. There is no blue smoke when driving the car, just a puff when it is first started. The brakes do not pull to one side or the other. The car drives nice; I have not had it on the highway, but it feels great on the road. There are some items on the car that do not work such as the horn. There is an audible note of an exhaust leak. There may be other troubles with the car that I have possibly overlooked so I would suggest that the buyer inspect the car in person if possible. None of the problems I have noticed make the car unusable in its current state, but in an attempt to be totally honest I must disclose them. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works correctly from both their respective switches on the dash and override switches. The wipers themselves do not work when the wiper door is open. As with most 1968-71 Corvettes the fiber optic light monitoring system is not totally functional. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. The speedometer has worked, though a bit sporadically, since we have had the car, but the odometer does not turn. The turn signals work. The blower works and blows correctly on all speed settings. This Corvette is still nice to drive, especially with the 4-speed and top down on a nice day. 48,417 miles. March 19, 2013. BiN $37,900 (Ended) on January 26, 2017. BiN $35,900 (Ended) on February 9, 2017. BiN $34,900 (Ended) on February 23, 2017. |
